Access to transportation can be a barrier for some families, and owning a reliable vehicle can be a game changer.

United Way, in partnership with the Rainbow District School Board have joined forces to provide dependable transportation for families in need.

About the Program

Students Driving Change provides deserving families in the community with a one-time gift of a refurbished, used vehicle to help remove barriers in maintaining stable employment, attend post-secondary education, and access programs and services that are vital to their well-being.

Students from Lasalle Secondary School, with the support and guidance of their mechanics teacher, are working on their first donated vehicle to be awarded upon completion.

Eligibility

  • Living in low-income and be a resident of Greater Sudbury
  • Have a valid Ontario Driver’s License
  • Have or be in the process of securing a verifiable job or be enrolled in post-secondary education
  • Able to afford the ongoing cost of car ownership
