Our community is seeing a rising number of new and diverse populations accessing food banks and other food security resources. Many local agencies do not receive many donations of foods that are requested or commonly sought out by these populations.
Flavours of Our Community has been designed to help combat food insecurity, specifically for racialized groups in our communities by providing pantry staples, spices, and other non-perishables which are relevant to their lifestyles, diets, and cultural roots.
To get involved, individuals, workplaces, and community groups are able to donate monetarily, or select the number and types of packs they would like to donate, and, using the shopping guides on our website, purchase and drop off their donations.
Our United Way will then work with our local partners, including the local food banks and cultural community groups, to ensure the food packs are distributed appropriately to those in need.
