ASSA Logo Design Contest Requirements

ASSA (Aboriginal Secondary School Awards) is changing their name!! We’re calling on all students to tap into your creativity and design the new logo for: “Anangokaa – There are (many) stars” Indigenous Secondary School Awards

1. Eligibility & Submission Guidelines

  • Designs must be original and created by the participant.
  • Each participant may submit up to 3 logo concepts.
  • Submissions must include:
    • Primary logo design
    • Black-and-white version
    • Short description (50–100 words) explaining the concept and inspiration.
  • Logo must be submitted in PNG or JPG format for judging, and finalists may be asked for vector files (AI, EPS, SVG).

2. Design Specifications

  • Logo must be scalable and look good in small and large sizes.
  • Logo must be legible in colour, grayscale, and black-and-white.
  • Avoid overly detailed or intricate artwork that may not reproduce well on print or merchandise.
  • Must be suitable for use online, in print, and in promotional materials.

3. Brand Requirements

  • Logo should reflect the theme of the event.
  • Must avoid copyrighted imagery, stock icons, AI-generated assets, or plagiarized work.
  • No offensive, political, or inflammatory content.

4. Technical Requirements

  • Recommended canvas size: 1080 × 1080 px (square) or 1920 × 1080 px (landscape).
  • Colour mode: CMYK

5. Judging Criteria

  • Originality – The design must be unique and not resemble existing logos.
  • Relevance – How well the logo reflects the theme, purpose, or organization.
  • Cultural Component - The design must reflect some aspect of Indigenous Culture
  • Clarity – Simplicity and effectiveness in conveying the message.
  • Versatility – How well it works in various sizes and formats.
  • Aesthetic Appeal – Visual balance, colour choices, creativity.

6. Ownership & Permissions

  • Participants retain copyright to their work.
  • By entering, participants grant the organizing body the right to use the winning design for branding, promotional materials, and public display.
  • The winning designer must provide editable vector files.

7. Prize & Recognition

  • A prize will be awarded to the winning design.
  • Winning logo may be featured on:
    • Website
    • Social media
    • Printed materials
    • Event signage or merchandise

Winning design logo will be announced at the 2026 ASSA event on June 4, 2026.
